at Bomaderry (First Grade)
Ulladulla have forfeited the final game of the year therefore there will be no training this week. Thanks to everyone for the attendance at traiing throughout the year, especially the 8 or 9 of you that were there every week. After this week, Finals start and with Wollondilly beating Port we miss out on percentage on 4th spot. With Norths defeating Kiama by a point it will be a close finals series for the top three teams in Firsts, my money is still with Kiama, I think they will bounce back and be too good for both Bommo and Norths. In Ressies it will be interesting to see if anyone can stop Uni.
Thanks to all the guys that put a jumper on Saturday against Bommo, as we only had the bare 22 for the game. There were a few positives to come out of the performace, especially the last quarter, and some standout players including Damo (giving Ando a bath), Blue showing how far he's come as a premier ruckman, Hutch and Phil running all day, Dale and Simon taking some great grabs and Chris getting a couple of goals (as usual). It was a little disappointing not to have more support on the sidelines noting the number of injured players we have but thanks to those that showed up.
I am deploying overseas from Thursday and will not be back for a couple of weeks so I won't see much of anyone until Preso night on 19 Sep. Would be great to see everyone there.
This Saturday there is a working bee at the new Clubrooms starting at 0900. A BBQ lunch function will then be held at the Aussie on completion (around 1100). Let's get some people around and help out the club to get these facilities online as soon as possible. Please advise Ty (4424 1534) if you can't be there.
Thanks again to everyone for your help, support and encouragement throughout the year.

Week 15
vs Norths (First Grade)
vs Ulladulla (Reserve Grade)
A weekend where the efforts on the weekend were unfulfilled with missed opportunities in Reserve Grade and unrewarded effort in First Grade leaving the scoreboard not telling the full story. A beautiful day dawned on Saturday with an opportunity for Reserve Grade to continue some good performances and First Grade to have a chance to knock off one of the sides above it to solidify fourth spot.
Reserve Grade played Ulladulla at Tom Smith for the first time this year and hoped to show the form that had led to an away win over the Dockers earlier in the year. From the first bounce it was clear that the younger players from Ulladulla would relish the extra space at Tom Smith and the experienced Demon lineup had their work cut out to contain their younger and faster opponents. The close score at quarter time was indicative of our efforts to play our style of game and use the footy when we had it. In the second quarter we had a lot of the footy but did not capitalise on the scoreboard and efficient counter attacks from the Dockers proved the difference. Mark Kinnear, Scott McCurdy, Matt Webb and Luke Penglow were performing well for the Demons but despite having more scoring opportunities than our opponents in the second quarter we were adrift by 16 points at the main break. A tight third quarter followed with the Dockers pulling a further goal away from us despite the best efforts of Jace Southwell and young Jessie Hepplewhite and going into the final quarter we had the task ahead of us. Coach Ty Goodman asked for a red hot go from his chargers for the last quarter, and when we pulled to within 10 points with time to go it looked like a comeback victory was on the cards, but the Dockers steadied and held us off to finish ahead by 16 points in the end. Best performed are mentioned above with Dave Whitehead, Chris Weller and Troy Nicoll also deserving mention.
First Grade were looking to atone for the last time North's ventured to Tom Smith when the boys from the northern beaches came away with a tight victory. Knowing that fourth place may be in jeopardy it was imperative to get a good start against the Tigers. That didn't happen as Norths came out full of run and got the jump on us with a lightning quick start. It took a while for the boys to get used to the speed of the game and when the tempo was more to our liking we were much more competitive. Excellent play in the second and third quarters saw a very tight contest evolve (if not so much on the scoreboard). Tim Green, Brett Kelly and Scott Clarke were excellent in the backline with Jace Southwell, Simon Levy and Jonathon Wilson working hard in the centre. Dale Richardson was providing a target all around the ground and Chris Weller was dangerous when given the opportunity. In the last quarter, with a number of players backing up and a few injuries on top of that, we fought valiantly to the end but ended up on the wrong side of an unforgiving scoreboard. Other good performers on the day were Damien Wallace, Will Calvert, Phil Henshaw, Jake Gordon and Greg Wallace.
Next week we are at Bomaderry, as the other Tigers celebrate their 40th Anniversary. Let's get some good numbers to training and the game and try to make it a day to remember ... for us. Training on Thursday will be run by the players, get in touch with BK to have some input.

Week 14
vs Port Kembla (Both Grades)
A very successful weekend with both grades recording wins at Kully Bay Oval and a great trip to see a fantastic match between Sydney and the Saints on Sat night.
Ressies started off strong and it was evident from the start that a few fresh and younger legs made a real difference to the team. Brendan Robinson was outstanding in the centre, Jeremy Wild was good in the ruck and the backline was working well to put pressure on any scoring opportunites, especially evident during the second quarter as we held Port goalless despite a decent breeze in their favour. We kicked away in the third quarter with Tim Green, Scott McCurdy and Jace Southwell finishing off the good work in centre and from the hlaf back line. In the last quarter we finished full of running and outsored Port despite the conditions. A great team effort highlighted by those mentioned above and also Steve Wall, Ray Drysdale and Luke Penglow.
First Grade started very slowly into the wind and it looked like we could be in trouble but there were some good signs especially kicking 2 golas into what was now a stiff breeze. We dominated the second quarter with the breeze and held Port to 1 point taking a 5 point lead into the long break. Simon Levy and Jace Southwell were performing well in the centre with Chris Weller and Dale Richardson providing great avenues to goal. The third quarter was a real test and we restricted Port to 3 goals and kicked 1 ourselves thanks to great pressure from the backline and a fantastic effort from Simon Levy and Justin Larkins on the ball. In the last quarter we used the breeze well and dominated the quarter including a goal from about 80m out by Damo (OK maybe 60) and a lazy 8 from Chris Weller, running out comfortable winners in the end.
