Week 13

vs Wollondilly (First Grade)

A disappointing result on the weekend for the Demons as we were unable to secure a place in the finals with a below par performance against a hungry Wollondilly side. The first quarter was a tight affair with both teams trading goals in a free flowing encounter. The Knights then stepped up a gear in the second quarter and the Demon players did not respond well. A couple of missed opportunities and a lack of pressure led to a half time deficit of almost 5 goals. Jace Southwell, Jake Gordon, Damien Wallace and WIll Calvert were standouts with Dale Richardson providing a good target up forward in his first game back in almost 2 months. We came out a bit stronger in the third quarter but again missed opportunities left us with a mountain to climb going into the final quarter. Unfortunately, it was not to be as the Knights continued their dominance in the last and played a much better brand of footy on the day. Other good performers for the Demons were Clint Maynard and Chris Weller who consistent performances every week as a great marking option up forward have been a highlight of the year. The Demons will have to go back to the drawing board this week and regroup with a trip to Port Kembla this weekend of vital importance as the First Grade side our now out of the four on percentage.

We have a score to settle with Port after the beat us up there by 1 point last time when we were undisciplined and lacked commitment. Good numbers at training last night but would like to see a few more on Thursday. We have both grades playing on the weekend for the first time in a few weeks, we need to get the numbers so as not to let down your mates. It was good to see a few of the injured players at the game on the weekend, however a number were conspicuous by their absence.

There are 3 tickets left at $30 for the Swans vs Saints game on the weekend. The bus is leaving ALB at 0945, the Aussie at 1000 and will be leaving for the Swans game soon after the First Grade game at Port (enough time to have a shower). If you want a ticket you need to speak to me or Cranky before Thu night. Also those that haven't paid yet please get the money to Cranky or myself ASAP.
